Modelling Infrared Radiation Exposure by Black body-Like Sources

Italian Occupational Safety researchers studied the exposure of workers to high intensity nonionizing radiation from proximity to hot bodies in order to determine if the exposure is harmful or not.
In this case they studied the exposure to visible and IR radiation from glowing hot metal objects and from a kiln in a cement mill. They used the Ophir 3A-P power sensor to measure the intensity of the radiation and obtained good correspondence to other means of measurement using a photodiode and can be used to set exposure limit values.
